iPads for kids with cancer - One iPad at a Time
A diagnosis with cancer has long-term effects on children and their relationships with family, friends and school. Usually they cannot return to school and to other social activities. As a consequence they often become depressed and isolated. They have to face lengthy stays in the hospital and do frequent outpatient clinic visits for several years. They have to cope with hours and days of boredom, loneliness and treatment related anxiety.
The Chris Lantos Foundation believes that iPads have great potential to ease cancer-treatment related loneliness, boredom and anxiety in children. iPads can help them stay in touch with friends and family, get relaxed, play games and learn about their illness and treatment.
